Jeyanthi Manokaran

 

With over twenty years of experience, a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, a Diploma in Visual Arts and one in Multimedia, Jeyanthi has the vision to reach kids of all cultures. Her award - winning concepts and unique treatment of diverse themes leave a lasting impression on young minds.

She has worked for both corporate and voluntary organizations. To name a few -Sherston Educational Software, Scholastic, ActionAid, Orient Longman, Macmillan, Hallmark Cards, The Azim Premji Foundation, and The Centre for Learning Resources.

Awards

  • Scholarship for a children's writers workshop at Pennsylvania awarded by Highlights Foundation in 2005
  • Maya Surjana Award for the best Journal in the NGO section in 2000- Design and illustrations for the Folk Art journal for Madhyam
  • Encouragement Prize awarded in 1992 for the use of Indian folk art in Children's Picture Book Illustration by the Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO, the Noma Concours at Japan
  • Certificate of Merit awarded by the Children's Book Trust, India for illustration of children's books - 1990
  • Second Prize at the 5th Advertising Art Exhibition, 1982, Chennai, for an illustrated calendar for Ashok Leyland depicting vintage commercial vehicles in their cultural context.
  • Scholarship for Highlights Foundation Writer's Workshop at Chautauqua 2009
